Steps Away From The Historic New Haven Green

New Haven, a city steeped in culture and tradition since 1638, is the first town in America laid out with a city plan. Based on a grid of nine squares, the central square was designed for the Green, which would serve as New Haven’s public common. To this day the Green is the center of activity, with the International Festival of Arts and Ideas, city-sponsored jazz concerts and other events attracting thousands of visitors each year.
